Klelia
Klelia is the reason for starting K & R Belted Galloways After the passing of her brother-in-law that used to farm and manage the land, Klelia decided that she wanted to restore some wildflower meadows. With research she realised the best way to achieve and manage this was to work with native cattle. After much deliberation the decision was made to keep Belted Galloways.
So, at the age of 70 she registered as a farmer, much to the gentle amusement of local farmers. As the workload increased, Klelia realised she couldn’t do this by herself and so, in the summer of 2020, Klelia was joined by her daughter Rebekah.
Klelia now has the time to enjoy gardening, growing much of our fruit and veg, and of course cruising!

Rebekah & Steve
Rebekah grew up on the farm since her Mum married Charles. Rebekah had always wanted to farm but was told due to the physical demands on farming, it wasn’t possible for a girl to farm without a partner. Roll on 2020 and Rebekah and her Mum, Klelia were starting to farm by themselves!
Rebekah always has always had a keen interest in animals, but, living life in various cities and travelling took precedence. As a mature student Rebekah studied an honours degree in Zoology with Conservation. During the degree Rebekah realised that nature does really well by itself and that it was human interference in its many forms that was the reason conservation efforts were so desperately needed. It was also at this time Rebekah became interested in looking after the human body and health from the inside out and externally together. From a distance Rebekah watched her Mum and step-Dad Charles grow older, but it was only Charles that appeared to age and be affected by illness. What was a huge noticeable difference between the two of them was that Klelia refused to go to the doctor and take pharmaceutical drugs and instead focused on allowing her body the time to respond and heal itself of common illnesses and the importance eating well, ideally organic to give her body the foods, nutrients and minerals it needed so that her immune system became stronger and stronger. At 78 Klelia still doesn’t take a single pharmaceutical drug.
It was this observation and Rebekah’s studies at university that made her want to farm as in sync with nature as possible, in order to create the healthiest animals and meat she could.
Steve (Ste) & Rebekah have know each other since childhood, growing up in the same village. Time past and lives happened and it was only when they both found themselves living back at their respective family farms, (which were only a field away from each other) did they get together.
Ste grew up in a farming family and spent his life working on his family farm. Ste & Rebekah now manage K & R Belted Galloways together. Ste has brought a wealth of knowledge, experience and much needed strength to the farm.
Together they are learning how to optimize and make practical Rebekah’s ideals and beliefs of raising the best quality meat to feed our bodies and creating a healthy external environment to live, for both themselves and their livestock.

Spirit
Spirit has been Rebekah’s side-kick since October 2020 when she got her as a pup. As a young(er) dog Spirit’s herding abilities showed strong, but, as she grew up her prey-drive instinct took over.
Spirit is now kept away from all livestock and works as our farm guard dog. Spirit is a huge companion to Ste, Rebekah & Klelia, who has dog-sitting duties during particularly busy times on the farm.
